The National Infrastructure Development Company (NIDCO) in partnership with the Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to advise the public that the West to South Overpass and the Bamboo Bridge at the Churchill Roosevelt and Uriah Butler Highways Interchange will be opened to vehicular traffic from noon on Friday 1st May, 2009. Accordingly motorists are advised to take extra care and caution as traffic flows will be readjusted to facilitate the use of the West and South Overpass and the Bamboo Bridge. The Traffic configurations will be as follows:- - From South (Chaguanas/San Fernando) going to Bamboo #1, Bamboo #3, and Grand Bazaar - from the Uriah Butler Highway make a left turn (west) onto Singh St into Bamboo #1 and follow the directional signs. Go over the new Bamboo Bridge. At the bottom of the ramp, go straight ahead through the roundabout for Grand Bazaar or make a right turn around the roundabout for Bamboo #3.
- From East (Piarco/Valsayn) going to Bamboo #1, Bamboo #3, and Grand Bazaar - make a left turn at the existing traffic signals at the Uriah Butler Highway. Immediately after the turn stay to the left and turn into the new Eastern Service Road. The new Grand Bazaar Entrance is on the immediate left while Bamboo #3 is straight ahead. For Bamboo #1, at the roundabout proceed up the ramp and across the Bamboo Bridge.
- From Bamboo #1 going to UBH South - take Jumurath St east and cross over the new Bamboo Bridge. At the bottom of the ramp, go straight ahead through the roundabout and make a left turn onto UBH south.
- From Bamboo #1 going to UBH North (Mount Hope) and East (Piarco) - proceed to Singh St. and then to the Uriah Butler Highway the same as now.
- From Bamboo #1 going to Port of Spain - take the new ramp just west of the new Bamboo Bridge which will merge with the existing south to west ramp onto the Churchill Roosevelt westbound.
- From Bamboo #3 going to UBH South - go north on the new Eastern Service Road through the roundabout and make a left turn onto UBH south.
- From Bamboo #3 and Grand Bazaar going to Port of Spain - at the roundabout proceed up the ramp across the Bamboo Bridge and make a right turn onto the new ramp just west of the bridge which will merge with the existing south to west ramp onto the Churchill Roosevelt westbound.
- From Bamboo #3 and Grand Bazaar going to UBH North (Piarco/Mount Hope) and East (Piarco) - at the roundabout proceed up the ramp across the Bamboo Bridge and follow the directional signs to the Uriah Butler Highway northbound.
- From Port of Spain to San Fernando - On approaching Aranguez, get into the extreme left lanes to access the Overpass to Chaguanas and San Fernando.
- From Port of Spain to Grand Bazaar and Bamboo #1 and #3 - On approaching Aranguez, get into the right lane on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway. Then turn right at the traffic lights at the intersection of the Churchill Roosevelt and Uriah Butler Highways and then proceed to the present Grand Bazaar exit. Follow the signs to Bamboo #1 and #3
- From Chaguanas and San Fernando to Port of Spain - Route remains unchanged.
- From Grand Bazaar to Uriah Butler Highway - From the new Grand Bazaar exit, make a left turn (south) onto the Eastern Service Road, use the roundabout and turn left unto the Uriah Butler Highway (South-bound).
- From Uriah Butler Highway (North) to South, Grand Bazaar and Bamboo #1 and #3 - After crossing the traffic lights at the Churchill Roosevelt and Uriah Butler Highways, keep on the right lane to proceed to Chaguanas and San Fernando. Keep on the left lane to go to Grand Bazaar and Bamboo #1 & #3, and follow the signs.
- The following movements along the CRH/UBH intersection are unchanged:
· North/South
· East/West
· East or West to North
· North to East or West and
· South to East or West
Motorists are advised to approach the area at reduced speed and to observe all signage and to comply with directions given by the Police.
